Breastfeeding Class

This class lays the foundation for successful breastfeeding through informative discussion of the benefits, physiology, and developmental aspects of nursing and through demonstration of proper techniques for latching on, promoting healthy suckling, reading hunger and comfort cues and dealing with common obstacles. Attention will be given to infants'developing body rhythms and the practice of "scheduled" feedings, easing soreness, and minor ailments, social and  cultural views of breastfeeding, nursing support groups,and organizations,extended breastfeeding options, breastfeeding when mother must retrun to work, and pumping and storing breastmilk.   
                                       Taught in 2 one hour sessions

 Instructor is a registered nurse, Certfied Lactation Counselor, professional Midwife's Assistant, certifed Doula, Childbirth Educator, certified instructor of Infant Massage and licensed massage therapist certified in pregnancy massage. Also offering newborn and postpartum classes.
