Birth Doula Services

Some couples may want more support during labor and birth and desire
the services of a birth doula.

A birth doula can provide essential physical and emotional benefits for the
laboring mother with less medical interventions, fewer complications and
shorter labors resulting in a healthier baby and happier father who has the
additional support he may need.

For students in my Bradley childbirth classes, I will provide doula services
 to you upon request for an additional fee, if I am available. Because a birth
 doula cannot be at two births at one time, I cannot take on two or more
couples with due dates less than 3-4 weeks apart. So don't delay in signing
up for doula services!

Birth doula services include:

· Initial Home Visit - A home visit prior to labor where we will discuss
your birth plan in detail and I can make suggestions about how we
can labor comfortably there after seeing the layout of your home. If
any family members that will be at your home while you labor want
to ask questions or learn what they can do to help out, I'll be glad to
speak with them and offer suggestions for their role in assisting you
while you're in labor at home.

· Labor support - Support during labor starting when you are at home
and laboring begins to get more serious and you feel my presence is
necessary until one hour after the birth. I will assist you with
breastfeeding and postpartum comfort measures.

· Meal/Beverage Assistance - Ensure after birth that you as new
parents have a meal and beverage to assure proper nutrition and
hydration. (Couples provide their own food and drink.)

· Postpartum visit - After the birth, I will come visit you at your home
for an hour or two to help with any breastfeeding issues, newborn
care issues or postpartum care issues you may have. While I'm
there I will assist with any meal preparation or household chores.

· Photo/Video Package - Photographing/videoing parts of labor and
birth and making either a leather photo album or video montage on
DVD for you to keep of your special day! All photos/videos will be
edited to only show discreet pictures/videos.

· Phone/Email Support - 24 hours a day from the time you pay your
deposit until your 6-week postpartum check-up.
