We are a midwife owned and operated freestanding birth center providing birthing services in addition to gynecological care. We offer an extensive childbirth education series.

We are committed to providing this out-of-hospital alternative to women. We are the only birth center in Delaware, and serve women in a four-state area.

We are a three-story brick house located one block from St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware.

The Birth Center has been in continuous operation since 1982 and is the birth site of over 2000 babies. It was founded by Edie Wonnell, CNM and is currently owned by Dorinda Dove, CNM and Kathleen McCarthy, CNM.

The Birth Center is ministered to by a loyal supportive community of women and families who have birthed here, providing help ranging from handmade quilts for our beds to painting and stenciling the walls to caring for our flower garden.
