 Venessa and Melody are certified professional midwives licensed in Texas and Arkansas. Combined, they have participated in over 1,100 births at home, in birthing centers, and in the hospital. They are passionate about their ministry of serving women in their desire to birth naturally. As senior, experienced midwives they are also enthusiastic about sharing their expertise and wisdom in the time-honored tradition of apprenticeship. Melody has participated in the training of over 80 students and Venessa has participated in the training of over 20.

As midwives, we believe that birth is an incredibly beautiful part of life ordained by God. Birth is a normal physiological process and women have been uniquely designed for the childbearing experience.

Our philosophy of birth is based on these basic principles:

--  Birth is a normal life event, not a medical condition

-- Every pregnancy, labor and birth is as unique as the individual. Through encouragement and education, you can understand the principles of good health and prenatal care in hopes of facilitating the best possible birth experience for you and your baby.

-- Pregnancy and birth is a time of emotional and spiritual maturation, as well as the more obvious physical growth. It is a growth period for the entire family.

We will work with you to seek to prevent the occurrence of complications during your pregnancy and birth that could necessitate a change in your plans to give birth out of the hospital. This begins with a screening process designed to risk out those women, who for health or other reasons are not suitable for an out of hospital birth.

We specialize in natural birth and firmly believe that a woman has the right to chose where she wishes to give birth and should be educated about her options. We encourage the family to be involved and support the woman in these choices. We do not believe in replacing the birth partner but rather compliment and offer support to the one the client chooses. We encourage the dads to help us catch their babies. Our goal is to help couples safely birth healthy babies, while transforming their lives through the process and engraving a life-time of precious birth memories into their hearts.
