I began attending births as an apprentice in 1982 and continued assisting at homebirths off and on for many years. During that time I became certified as a childbirth educator and childbirth assistant or doula, and gave birth to two of my own children at home with midwives.  I've been a registered nurse since 1985, working in the newborn nursery, post partum, high-risk antepartum, labor & delivery, and home health nursing. I have assisted at around 150 births as a labor & delivery nurse, and as either the primary or assistant midwife at over 150 planned homebirths. I completed requirements for licensure as a New Mexico midwife and Certified Professional Midwife in 2002. In 2007, I will complete a yearlong training in massage therapy and natural therapeutics.

I can offer my clients the best of both worlds; a wholistic approach based on natural healing and incorporating appropriate use of medical technology. I provide careful, thorough prenatal care; nutritional counseling; childbirth education; one-on-one labor support; expert birth assistance; complete newborn exam; breastfeeding support; comprehensive postpartum care; and access to my lending library and a variety of natural healing techniques.
