I believe that pregnancy and birth are normal and natural processes.  I believe in a woman's I enjoy supporting natural birth with the least amount of interventions.  I believe birth is a sacred event that often requires peace and respect.  I am a very calm midwife who never forgets to bring her knitting to a birth.

Services
I enjoy tailoring my care to meet  your individual needs.  I provide home prenatal and postpartum visits and I am experienced with waterbirths and VBACs.  I will offer nutritional counseling, childbirth education, assistance with breastfeeding and provide referrals when needed.  I provide the midwives model of care and encourage family participation.  I will travel up to 2 hours outside of Lexington.

Training

I received the majority of my academic training at Birthwise Midwifery School where I graduated in May 2006. My path to becoming a midwife took 5 years.  I spent a total of 5 months as an intern at a birth center in Texas where I participated in 126 births. I also apprenticed with Marilyn Greene, an experienced homebirth midwife, in Tennessee where I attended 16 births. In 2006 I also met the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) requirements to hold the title of Certified Professional Midwife. I maintain current certification in adult CPR and neonatal resuscitation. I frequently attend continuing education events and  regularly participate in peer review at Kentucky Midwives Alliance meetings.
