     I love my job!  I love helping to empower women and their families to have wonderful birth experiences.  I received a Bachelor's degree in nursing with a desire to become a nurse-midwife.  But after the homebirth of my second child, I so fell in love with homebirth that I chose to become a certified direct-entry midwife (CDM).  After 5 years of Labor and Delivery nursing, with my third baby about to be born (the next day to be exact), I sent in my application for licensure to become a licensed CDM.  Since then I have practiced part time, devoting my time to only 2 or 3 deliveries per month and the rest to my family as a stay-at-home mom.  Thankfully, I have a very supportive husband with flexible work hours, who can come home in a jiffy for a mid-day birth!  In all, I have delivered a little over 100 babies and assisted with over 400. 
    My children are ages 8,7,5, and 2. Three of my babies were homebirths, 2 of them waterbirths. I loooooved my waterbirths!!!  Birth has been a love of mine since I was very small and I feel so honored to be apart of family's births on a regular basis.
    Most recently I have been concerned about the fact that many women who are on denali kid care or have no insurance at all are being mistreated by their care practitioners and their office staff.  I believe all women, regardless of where they come from or what their socio-ecomomic status is, deserve to be treated the same... with love and respect.  I don't advocate "stealing" patients from other care practitioners, but the message I would like all women to get is this:  If you leave your prenatal appointments feeling disrespected or judged, with unanswered questions and a lack of time given to you, find another practitioner!  You have the right to do that!  This is your birth, your baby, your family!  I recommend finding a midwife, but if you prefer a doctor, there are many great doctors out there.  Find someone who will listen, and spend time with you.  You deserve it!
