I am a certified nurse-midwife with a private homebirth practice that serves Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan. I am a lay midwife turned certified nurse-midwife with over 10 years training and experience. The majority of this experience is with out-of-hospital births.
I conduct prenatal visits at my client’s home or in my Goshen, Indiana home office. Getting to know my clients during the prenatal period is my priority so that we have built trust and understanding to rely on during the birthing process. The practice of true informed consent is key to homebirth practice, I offer lots of information and let families choose which tests and procedures are truly important and appropriate for them. Women really are the experts!
I’m very comfortable with waterbirth and with women birthing however they feel like at the moment. I prefer low-technology approaches to prenatal care and birthing practices, although I do have  laboratory services and prescriptive privileges. Thorough postpartum attention is very important in my practice. I limit my clients to five women due each month so I have plenty of time and energy for everyone and to reduce the chances that more than one woman will be laboring at the same time.
I am a licensed registered nurse and certified nurse- midwife in both Indiana and Michigan. I am certified in CPR and neonatal resuscitation. I always carry emergency equipment to birth, but rarely need to use it.
Pregnancy, birth and postpartum is a time when many women need the mother-loving care that I strive to offer.
