Stephen is a licensed board certified acupuncturist and herbalist.  He has a BA in mathematics and Literature from Cornell University, a Masters of Arts in Religious Studies from the Chicago Theological Seminary, and a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago.  He currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Herbal Medicine Department and as a research acupuncturist with the Integrative Medicine Initiative at Children’s Memorial Hospital.  In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Kate and his son Henry.

Stephen has a wide range of interests in the health sciences. While his current interests include the use of herbal medicine and acupuncture in the treatment of cancer, women’s health, and pediatric disorders, the foundation of his knowledge comes from his own healthy living.  Being conscious of the spiritual and emotional, as well as the physical components of vitality, he has practiced meditation, qi gong, and internal martial arts for 15 years, which he uses as part of his therapeutic approach.  His philosophy on health care is that natural therapies provide the least invasive route of treatment for most ailments and that these modalities should be tried first before attempting more invasive procedures.  He likes to remain mindful of the wisdom of the nature and its ability to heal.
