12/17/2006 Birth Center update: The birth center has been in the dream stage for many years... Now begins the manifestation of the dream. The plan is to rent a house with some acreage on the Big Island of Hawaii, in east Puna, where it is quiet and peaceful. (January 2007)

- The center is named Mataji, to honor the sacred, I envision a place where you can always get a cup of tea, with soup, salad, fruit, friendship, and a sense of community, along with your prenatal visit or class. There will be a birthing room available 24 hours a day.

- Many different classes and events, as well as yoga, massage, meditations, and chanting will be available as well, with many different practitioners. The birth center will double as a women's center, in support of women in all phases of life, and as a natural healing center as well. The center will grow naturally and expand as the need arises.

- Apprenticeships for becoming a midwife or doula will be available. Each one, teach one! This is an organic grass roots project which will be completed one step at a time. We are going to have lots of fun!

- Speaking of organic, beautiful gardens that model sustainability and produce food, will be an integral part of the long term goal of the center: to be a model of conscious living.

- There will be a strong focus on nutrition and healing with herbs and foods. Healthy eating principles will be studied and practiced and made available for sharing.

- The goal is to create community and to offer service.

- If you happen to have money or land to donate to the creation of Mataji Center of Hawaii, that would be lovely. We will be working on becoming either a non-profit, or be under the umbrella of a church / Spiritual practice.
