Mataji Midwifery is a home-birth service provided by Marianna Taranto, who has been serving birthing families for over 20 years.
She considers herself a "Spiritual Midwife" because she strives to preserve the sacredness of the birthing process. She apprenticed with home-birth midwives for 2 1/2 years before attending Maternidad La Luz 1989-90. She had her own home-birth practice for many years before returning to Maternidad La Luz for 2 1/2 + years as a teacher and staff midwife from 1995-1997. She returned to MLL every now and then for few years as a guest midwife.
Marianna works with the family
as a whole, with the intent of strengthening family bonds, assisting
with parenting skills, organizing parent support groups, and assisting parents in viewing their role as a
sacred trust.
Home birth is not only safe, it also preserves the family unit and the sacredness of the birthing process. It is time to put the sacredness back into the birth process.
