Our Vision: The birth of a child is a sacred, monumental event, that is life changing for all involved. At Bay Area Birth we strive to empower women to trust their bodies, help husbands feel secure in supporting their wives, bring calm and peace to the birth setting, and support the family in their birth choices. Our goal is to guide women and their families all over South Texas to feel secure, confident, and nurtured during their pregnancies, childbirth and beyond.
We provide full prenatal/birth/postpartum and midwifery care, birth doula and postpartum doula services, and childbirth education in the greater Corpus Christi Bay and South Texas Areas. We serve families as far south as Harlingen and McAllen in the Rio Grande valley, as far north as Victoria, as far west as Alice and Beeville, and every town in between. All of our care is personal, tailored to the needs of each individual client, takes in to account the whole woman, not just her expanding belly, and is in the comfort and privacy of her own home.
About Midwives: The midwifery model of care revolves around the belief that pregnancy and childbirth are normal, natural processes of the female body. A midwife is a trained professional with special expertise in supporting women to maintain a healthy pregnancy birth, offering expert individualized care, education, counseling and support to a woman and her newborn throughout the childbearing cycle.
A midwife works with each woman and her family to identify their unique physical, social and emotional needs. When the care required is outside the midwife's scope of practice or expertise, the woman is referred to other health care providers for additional consultation or care.
Our midwife is a fully licensed health care provider, who provides complete prenatal care to the pregnant woman, comparable to what she would receive in the office of an OB GYN (obstetrician), along with labor, birth, and postpartum care.
Additional benefits include personalized, holistic care, with all prenatal appointments provided in the comfort of your home, lasting between 30-60min depending on the needs of the individual.
At the onset of active labor, the midwife and one or more skilled assistants and/or apprentices meet the client at her home and provide labor support along with monitoring of mother and baby throughout the labor and birth process, then stay after the birth to be sure Mom and baby are healthy and well for the immediate postpartum period. Additional postpartum visits are provided for Mom and baby, always in their home for the period up to 6 weeks postpartum. Our Midwife is also available by phone and email to her clients.
