Loree Siermachesky is the married mother of three sons, born in 1992, 1996 and 1998 and she used birth doulas for her subsequent births after a traumatic first birth experience. She is a dual certified birth/labor doula with DONA International since 1997 and CAPPA Canada since 2010; certified as a breastfeeding counselor since 2009; certified as a Lamaze International Childbirth Educator since 2010, is HCP CPR and NRP certified and is in the process of her postpartum doula certification. She has applied twice to McMaster University's Bachelor of Health Sciences in Midwifery. In 2011, she was offered an acceptance of admission, but due to family circumstances decided to decline the offer. She will reapply in 2013. She is also the managing editor of the DONA International memberships's quarterly publication -- International Doula.
Loree has taken her passion, her patience and her knowledge and applied it to each of the over 1000 births she has had the privilege and the honor to attend. As a birth doula, she believes in the power of birth. That power extends to honoring the decisions that all women and families must make for their labor experiences. Whether a family wants a natural birth, a birth with medications or if they want to schedule a cesarean, she's proud to support them fully in the choices they make. It is their birth experience and she is grateful that they are sharing it with her. She believes every woman and her partner deserve compassionate, non-judgmental care and strives to meet them wherever they are. Her philosophy is that every birth is sacred, regardless of external factors, and that all women have the right to respect, dignity and informed consent.
