Georgia Midwife, Birth in the Tradition

Birth in the Tradition ™ is a community based midwifery service serving Atlanta and surrounding areas. I provide pre pregnancy, prenatal, labor and postpartum counseling and support for those who desire a water birth (out of water birth), lotus birth and VBAC (vaginal birth after C-Sec) in a professional, cultural, and holistic manner. This includes: basic clinical exams, nutritional guidance, prenatal education, labor assistance, in-home visitations, postpartum and newborn education, breast feeding support and referrals to outside resources to support a healthy pregnancy and when necessary. A team of community based professionals are affiliated to meet your when needed which may include a midwife assistant and/or apprentice, doula, OB GYN, chiropractor, perinatologist, pediatrician, lactation specialist, childbirth educators, Labor and Post Partum Doula's, Herbalist and a homeopathic physician. Other services include: Birth in a Box pool rental, placenta encapsulation preparation, birth photography, herbal knowledge & use, Blessingway planning, and traditional birthing practices from various parts of the world. Birth in the Tradition believes in returning birth to the family. This is the culmination and beginning of a journey which began with the couple. The midwife is their to support the normalcy and naturalness of a healthy pregnancy and birth to the very best of her ability. She is not there to take over birth not unless her midwifery skills are required. At the same time, she is there to provide the comfort, wisdom and expertise of her craft, knowledge and skills appropriately.Prenatal care begins once a mutual agreement has been made between the midwife and her client and continues six weeks after birth. In many cases an extended family relationship continues a lifetime.
